In March 2018 my Chrystal Palace Hat was presented at the London Hat Week exhibition, and was one of the 30 headpieces, out of more than 300, to be selected for the press preview!
The theme of the exhibition was the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations in 1851, so I created this hat inspired by the Chrystal Palace, which was built to host the exhibition.
It was a lot of work, I used very unusual materials like iron fence, photographic filters and I can't begin to tell you how difficult it was to sew them together! The thing that inspired me most about the palace was the huge tree they placed inside, I recreated it using peacock feathers.
